【摘要】:ThistestmethodspecifiesasamplingandtestingprocedureforthemeasurementofaveragefiberdiameterandvariationindiameterofanimalfibersasrequiredinTestMethodD2968.TestMethodD2130fortestingwoolandotheranimalfibersforaveragefiberdiameterisconsideredsatisfactoryforacceptancetestingofcommercialshipmentssincecurrentestimatesofbetween-laboratoryprecisionareacceptableandthemethodhasbeenusedextensivelyinthetradeforacceptancetesting.Incasesofdisagreementarisingfromdifferencesinvaluesreportedbythepurchaserandthesellerwhenusingthismethodforacceptancetesting,thestatisticalbias,ifany,betweenthelaboratoryofthepurchaserandthelaboratoryofthesellershouldbedeterminedwitheachcomparisonbeingbasedonthetestingofspecimensrandomlydrawnfromonesampleofmaterialofthetypebeingevaluated.1.1Thistestmethodcoversaprocedure,usingthemicroprojector,forthedeterminationoftheaveragefiberdiameterandthefiberdiametervariationonwoolandotheranimalfibers,suchasmohair,cashmere,alpaca,camel''shair,etc.(Note1)intheirvariousforms.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Themetricequivalentsofinch-poundunitsmaybeapproximate.Note18212;Thistestmethodmayalsobeappliedtoanyfibershavingaroundcrosssectionandaccordinglymaybeusedmanytimesformelt-spunman-madefiberssuchaspolyamides,polyesters,andglass;alsoitmaybeappliedtoalimitednumberofpolyacrylicsandregeneratedcellulosetypefibers.ThevaluesgiveninAppendixX1fordensityandcorrectionfactors,however,applyonlytowoolandshouldnotbeusedforotherfibers.Forsuitablevaluesforthedensityofotherfibers,seeTable5inTestMethodsD629,QuantitativeAnalysisofTextiles.Note28212;Insubsequentsectionsofthistestmethod,thetermx201C;woolx201D;alsosignifiesmohairorotherfibersifthecircumstancesareapplicable.Note38212;Forfinenessspecificationsforwool,wooltop,mohair,mohairtop,alpaca,andcashmere,refertoSpecificationsD3991andD3992,SpecificationD2252,TestMethodD2816.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
